Shout out to all the kids in the world, because in these tough times, these little ones managed to stay indoors even though it was accompanied by some crying, cribbing, and a lot of complaining.

But this pandemic has also shown us that staying indoors is not boring anymore. There is a  whole list of things that can be done online that will not only entertain you but will also educate you.

Disclaimer, none of these activities involve using screens, of any kind. Right from phones,  televisions, laptops, or computers. We know you don’t like your kid getting indulged in longer screen hours. And, do you know the best part? While doing these activities, they will not even miss the screens.

Now that we have raised the bar so high, let’s quickly dive in and find out the top 5 activities that will keep your child hooked (without the screens!).

1. Tune in with your kid’s inner artist

Every child is a Picasso by birth. They just tend to lose it as they grow up. Do not let that happen to your little and help him channel all his creative energy, in creating a masterpiece of his own. Get glue, paint, paper, sketch pens, brushes, and everything else on board that is needed for them to start.

Allow them to mess up a bit. Trust me, by the end of the activity, you will be surprised at your child’s artsy skills. Plus, this activity can keep them busy your trouble-maker for hours all while they explore their creative skills.

2. Invest in some good-ol’ board games

They might seem old school but board games played a very important role in my development as a child and definitely gave me some irreplaceable memories. I don’t see a  reason why it can’t be the same for your child as well!

Besides, board games are a great way for spending time together with family while also embracing some family values. Also, games like chess, teach you a lot, helps sharpen your child’s brain, and will always keep them ahead of kids of their age. So, board games are a  must-have if you want some fun (and learning) for your child!

3. Move. Shake. Dance!

Playgrounds may be out of reach but this does not mean that your kids can be a couch potato. You can organize some fun “moving” activities even at home. For instance, organize a dance party and who knows if you suddenly discover their love for dancing.

Also, why would they dance alone? Dance along, invite a few of their friends, blast the playlist and keep moving.

Not only will this activity help your kid move out of their comfort zone but they will also learn some new skills, (dancing is a really underrated skill by the way) and make friends along the process. Besides, every kid loves to dance.

4. What about some super-fun science experiments?

You never know when your kid can have his eureka moment. So, doing many simple yet interesting home science experiments with your kid can help them develop a love for science.

These experiments require very little preparation but the results can keep your kid hooked up for days. Besides, they will learn so much about science. You can find these basic experiments from YouTube or some science blogs online.

Brownie points for capturing that amazing look on your little one’s face!

5. Camping… inside!

Do you know what kids love? They love pop-up tents and cubby houses that they can set up in the house and relish a camping experience without actually staying away.

You can find a range of these cubby houses online. You can also look for them in your nearby store. Cubby houses can also make for a great gift idea for your kid’s upcoming  birthday or even for Christmas.

Over to you…

Every kid is unique and might find themselves enjoying different kinds of activities – keep your doors open and let them explore. All the above-mentioned suggestions will help you pique their  analytical skills, while also having a fun time. However, you don’t have to limit yourself to these  suggestions, like I said, let your child explore and find out what they like the most!
