Tips to Lower Anxiety

Anxiety is a feeling of anxiousness. To deal with it, medications are not the only rescue. You need to get rid of all negative thoughts and energy-draining things from your life. Along with that, incorporating the following tips can help in getting rid of anxiety. Therefore you must practice them.

The tips that can help lower anxiety are;

Workout

Sitting in the same position the whole day will eventually cause mental stress and trigger anxiety. Therefore you need to keep your body moving. You must make a workout routine of at least half an hour daily. When you do physical activity, your body releases endorphins- substances that can help elevate your mood. They can make you feel good, boost self-esteem and keep you happy. Therefore workout is not only essential for your physical health but also your mental well-being.

Sleep

Sleep has a huge impact on your mental and physical health. To stay healthy in both ways, you need to take good care of your sleep. According to experts, to remain healthy, you need to take at least eight hours of deep sleep at night. Quality and quantity, both matter for sleep. If you are unable to fall asleep due to anxiety, make sure;

  • You turn off electronic gadgets, television, and computers at least an hour before going to bed.
  • Your bed is comfortable.
  • The temperature of the room is comfortable to sleep in. It is better to keep it a bit cold so that you can sleep easily.

You keep the same time to fall asleep every day. For falling asleep with ease, you need to have a proper routine.

Limit Caffeine and Alcohol

Caffeine can stimulate your nervous system, and alcohol can depress it. Both things are bad for anxiety. Therefore you need to cut down on both. Not only do you consume caffeine through tea and coffee. But you can also consume it through;

  • Chocolate
  • Soda
  • Diet pills
  • Some headache medications

Caffeine and alcohol can also interfere with your sleep cycle. A lack of sleep can, in turn, provoke anxiety. Therefore you need to limit both so that you can sleep in peace.

Schedule Your Worry Time

The tip may seem awkward, but it can help in focusing on other activities well. You can schedule your worry time, the same time every day. At that time, think about all those thoughts bothering you and try to pave out their solutions. You can also write down your thoughts and feelings on paper and share them with your therapist on the day of the appointment. Your therapist can guide you in paving out a way to get rid of all those negative thoughts.

When you worry at the same time for the whole day, you can feel better for the remaining day and eventually feel better.

Deep breath

Take a deep breath whenever negative thoughts are going on in your mind. A deep breath tells your body that everything is fine.

Water

To get rid of the anxiety, you should drink plenty of water so that you feel refreshed. As soon as you feel an anxiety attack coming, drink a glass of water that can help you lower it down. It is better to drink slightly cold water during an anxiety attack.
