Finding peace with our busy brains is one of the most difficult acts these days. Questions like, ‘Am I meditating correctly?’, ‘When will I start experiencing the difference?’ and ‘Have I made any progress?’ keep us consumed every single day. In this article, I will tell you about a few signs of progress in meditation that you may have achieved already but haven’t realised yet.
You Feel Motivated
Meditation starts motivating you from the day you decide to get started but it is the realisation of that motivation that happens later. If you are regular and patient with your practice of meditation you will feel positive about yourself. From the moment you get up, you will feel energetic (without even that mandatory cup of coffee) throughout the day. Of course, this energy will not be the same every single day. Some days you will feel a little laid back too but the signs of deep meditation will keep you motivated.
You Sleep Better
A good sleep routine is one thing that every other lifestyle blog recommends but how does that happen is what matters. I am not saying that with meditation you will have a stress free and peaceful sleep or you won’t be turning and tossing in the bed at night. But yes, meditation can give you quality sleep. When you deprive sleep, your physical and mental health is affected and so does your mood. Some people even start taking pills to get that peaceful sleep. Well, why not choose a natural way that lets you embrace quality sleep.
You Are Stress-Free
Tension and anxiety are two of the most prevailing states of mind these days. May it be the stress of the past or future, people are seen getting tensed very easily. Talking about the health benefits of meditation, it lets you ‘live in the present. And trust me, this works effectively for mental health. With the practice of meditation, you will soon realise that you need to plan your future and learn from the past but you do not need to live there. You need to be where you are, in the present.
You Forget About Expectations
Humans are born with a tendency of expecting out of everything. Even when it comes to meditation, we expect how meditation will benefit us, and how to progress in meditation. This unending urge of getting our unsaid desires fulfilled is brought to an end by meditation. The practise of meditation teaches you to go easy on yourself. With time you start letting go of all that hampers your mental health. And soon you start realising you are no longer hung up on expectations.
You Look Forward To Meditation
Sometimes you hit the gym when you feel you should, meditation can be similar in the beginning. But with time you start looking forward to it. The moment you start to understand the need of recharging your mind and soul through meditation, that is when you have made progress. You will not be confined to just a few minutes of meditation, indeed you will find yourself turning to it often throughout the day. Helping you seek peace and contentment are two of the most popular advantages of meditation.
Your Mood Isn’t Dependent On The Objects Around
A few people believe that only a room full of their favourite scented candles can light up their will to meditate. No doubt these beliefs are encouraging but being handed to them is wrong. As you progress in your practice, the benefits of meditation will make you understand it is not the candles that matter, it is you. You can meditate anywhere only if you want. Whether you are stuck in the traffic or waiting at the fuel station, you can easily make these situations peaceful and serene if you want them to.
There are many more signs of progress in meditation like improved posture, better mood and other little things that matter.
