Sleep disorders are a collection of illnesses that impair one’s capacity to get enough sleep on a regular basis. Sleep problems are growing more frequent across the world, whether they are caused by a health condition or too much stress.

There are different types of sleep disorder:-

Insomnia is defined as the inability to fall or stay asleep. Jet lag, stress and worry, hormones, and digestive issues are all possible causes. It might also be a sign of something else. Insomnia can have a negative impact on your general health and quality of life, resulting in depression, concentration problems, irritability, and gaining weight.

Sleep apnea is characterized by breathing pauses while sleeping. This is a severe medical disorder in which the body’s oxygen intake is reduced. It may also cause you to awaken in the middle of the night.

Parasomnias are a group of sleep disorders characterized by irregular movements and activities while sleeping. Sleepwalking, sleep talking, teeth grinding or jaw clenching in bed and moaning nightmares are among them.

Restless leg syndrome (RLS) is characterized by an insatiable need to move one’s legs. A tingling feeling in the legs might occasionally accompany this impulse. These symptoms can occur at day, although they are more common at night.

Here are ayurvedic medicines for sleep available for us:-

  • Brahmi, also known as Bacopa, is a herb that promotes restful sleep, reduces emotional turbulence, and improves attention and alertness. In Ayurveda, Brahmi is referred to as a brain tonic and is used to treat digestive issues. It also helps the body’s natural healing process by improving blood circulation and is an ayurvedic medicine for sleep.
  • Shankhpushpi is a herb rich in flavonoids, glycosides and alkaloids that aid to calm the nervous system and relieve mental tiredness. It functions as a natural tranquilizer for anxiety neurosis, and it is an ayurvedic medicine for sleep disorder.
  • Vacha has a calming impact on the brain, which aids in the relief of stress and sleeplessness. It works as a coolant, relaxing the nerves.. This plant, scientifically known as Acorus Calamus, is a nervous system tonic that can help with stress and a variety of other ailments.
  • Sarpgandha, also known as Rauwolfia Serpentina or Indian Snakeroot, contains around 50 alkaloids. These alkaloids aid in the reduction of high blood pressure, or hypertension, which can lead to sleep disturbances.
  • Tagar is one of Ayurvedic medicine for insomnia, the most powerful herb. Tagar aids in nerve relaxation and the removal of toxins from the circulation, blood vessels, and joints, among other things. Tagar, sometimes called Indian Valerian, should not be taken on its own. It should first be combined with other herbs.
  • Ashwagandha has a reputation for promoting restful sleep. Triethylene glycol, an active chemical discovered by researchers, performs wonders in inducing sleep. People who suffer from worry, stress, or tiredness might benefit from Ashwagandha. It is an ayurvedic medicine for insomnia.
  • Jatamasi is a natural brain tonic and memory booster that also helps a hyperactive mind relax and quiet down. It promotes restful sleep by renewing and feeding the neurological system. It is an ayurvedic medicine for insomnia.
