Consider small events, like group outings, trivia nights, or game nights. You could do escape rooms, laser tag, or days at the arcade.
If your employees aren’t keen on spending their post-work free time with their coworkers, consider doing group fitness activities. Not only is this good for your employee’s health and wellness (which is also good for their morale), but it’s also a great way to show them that you care.
Tokens of Appreciation
Who doesn’t love a token of appreciation for hard work?
Tokens don’t have to be large. They can be small gestures that don’t cost too much for the company to handle. You could offer small gift cards, office supplies, morale patches, or anything else that says “thank you” to the employee in question.
Make sure to reward all good behavior, even if the action was small. Meeting sales goals, for example, might seem like it should be the default, but that doesn’t mean that those employees don’t deserve recognition.
One of the best things that you can do for your employees is to allow flexible schedules if your workplace supports them.
employees value a strong work/life balance. They want to know that they’ll have time to enjoy their lives outside of work. They may want to be able to work from home sometimes or work more hours per day for an extra day off.
Not all workplaces are conducive to flexible schedules, but if you can make that change, it will make a huge difference.
Are you able to communicate openly with your employees? Can they communicate with you? If you want to improve your workplace morale, opening up a clear line of communication is a smart management decision.
Employees want to know that their higher-ups are listening to them. They may have thoughts and ideas about their projects (or the workplace in general) that you wouldn’t have thought of.
They also want to know that they won’t be reprimanded for voicing their thoughts. By opening up this line of communication, you’ll let your employees know that you value their input.
